Why download our 4th. release of our Trends in Agricultural Plastics eBook on cultivation of fruit trees under cover?

Among the fruit tree varieties whose production has grown the most in the World are cherries, but table grapes, blueberries, and kiwi have also shown an exponential increase over time.

To get an idea of how fast the growth and importance of these fruits have been in the agricultural industry, over the last twenty years grapes and cherries have increased by approximately 40% to 50% in terms of production per million metric tons, which is an excellent figure.

For example, in Chile, the cultivation of cherries has been a success thanks to the different protection methods that have been implemented to preserve the production levels and quality of the fruit. As a result, Chile has managed to stand out as a producer and exporter of quality sweet cherries.

Chile’s strategy has been to implement the model of protective covers and high tunnels, which reduce the risk of crops and fruit being affected by rain, but also to regulate the heating of the crop, achieve passive ventilation, and use an irrigation system that can be carried out manually, driplines or sprinklers.

High tunnels reduce the risk of frost damage to crops and fruit or problems with fertilization during critical periods such as flowering and fruit set.

In this eBook you will find more info related to trends in cultivation of fruit trees under cover: when should cherry trees be protected?, what about table grape cultivation?, why is it necessary to protect fruit trees?, what are the benefits of fruit tree coverage?, what types of structures are the most popular?, aspects to consider when choosing fruit tree covers, among other important topics.
